My coaching career started back in the days when the iPod was just hitting the shelves, and Blackberry was the peak of mobile technology. My have things changed.
Since then, I have coached hundreds of people to find focus, get clear and maintain momentum. My clients have written books, run marathons, started and grown world-changing businesses.
But thousands of hours of experience is not enough. To keep offering my clients the best in transformational coaching, I have been collecting certificates, qualifications and professional development experiences for decades. I’m certified as a Trainer of NLP, Master Practitioner of NLP, Coach and Hypnotherapist. I have a bachelor’s in Humanities from Scripps College, and have spent semesters studying at McGill University in Montreal and at American University in Washington, D.C. I also have hundreds of continuing education hours in coaching, writing, finance and small business development.
But most importantly, I have over 20 years experience coaching clients through ambitious projects and massive life changes.
I take my self-development seriously and I’m on a continuing quest to be the best life coach to my clients that I can possible be.
I don’t just talk the talk, though. A pleasant side-effect of my line of work is that I’ve coached myself into some pretty exciting achievements:
From couch potato
to mountain climber.
From avowed non-runner
to Boston Marathoner.
From corporate cog
to running my own business.
I'm proud to call Portland home.
I live in Portland, Oregon, in a beautiful neighborhood with a historic designation.
I grew up on a very small farm about 20 miles south of where I live now. When it was time to go to college, I couldn’t get away fast enough, so I packed up and headed off to Scripps College, in Southern California. It was an eye-opening experience for a girl who knew how to milk cows and gather eggs. It ended up being one of the most transformational experiences of my life. My liberal arts education started the foundation for my future as an entrepreneur and coach. Plus, I treasure the life-long friendships started there.
After more time away, and one very large earthquake, I was super happy to come back to Oregon.
Now, I love living in Portland–I’ve lived in all five quadrants–and take advantage of all it has to offer as frequently as possible.
And, no, I don’t watch Portlandia. I don’t have to, I witness it every day.
A car accident gave me a new perspective on life
While I was able to walk/drive away from the crash, the after-effects are on-going. Even a couple of years later, I’m still rehabilitating from it. Though, I’m now able to go on short run several times a week and am getting back into hiking, yoga and cycling.
The amount of work I’ve put in to regain my physical and cognitive abilities has been incredible. While there were times when I just wanted to give up, I cut myself some slack, took a break and re-started where I was.
One of the most strange things I’ve experienced through all of this, is that it has improved my coaching. I’ve always had pretty good focus and an ability to see patterns in people’s lives and behaviors, but now, it’s even more clear and intense. Learning to trust these intensified abilities and flashes of insight is my new challenge.
I'm a voracious reader.
That aforementioned car accident put a damper of this for some time, but I’m almost back to my previous reading levels.
I love all kinds of non-fiction and fiction. Well, except for thrillers and mysteries. I tend to avoid them, because I always stay up all night to finish them and make sure the bad guys are vanquished in the end!
I like to do things with my hands.
